Overnight backpack to Y Meadow Lake, Emigrant Wilderness

| | Comments (0)

Y Meadow DamDavid and I met up with Steve and Tom from the Northern California hikers and did a nice overnight hike into Emigrant Wilderness. We started from the Gianelli Cabin trailhead and hiked approximately six miles into Y Meadow Lake (Dam/Reservoir). It was a nice hike that went up and over a few ridges with breathtaking views. The continuous gorgeous scenery made the hike go by quickly, and we had a nice afternoon lounging around the lake. Well, I lounged around and swam in the ice cold water while David played with his new knife and cut up firewood. The mosquitoes were bad but bearable - expected at this time of year in the Sierra. There were still regular snow patches along the trail (which rolled in between 8600-9100 ft) but it was melting fast. Photos of the hike to Y Meadow Lake are here.

Tom's trip report with photos is here.
Steve's photos are here.
