pumpkin004 (click on photo for more pictures) This Saturday marked our annual visit to Half Moon Bay for pumpkins and beer. Well, we go for the pumpkins, but beer usually ends up distracing us somewhere along the way. With places like Cameron’s Inn and the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company around, it’s no wonder why…

At Bob’s Pumpkin Farm we picked up a few beauties for carving - and seed toasting, of course. It wouldn’t be October without toasted pumpkin seeds. Then we drove up to Half Moon Bay to join the crowds at the main festival. Our mission: food. Dave quickly found his way to the giant turkey drumsticks, but I was a purist and wanted to stick to pumpkiny items. My lunch was a slice of pumpkin bread, a chicken pumpkin sausage, and for dessert we shared some pumpkin ice cream. Of course, everything was washed down with a pumpkin ale from Half Moon Bay Brewing Company (told you about the beer thing…)

Rather than sit in traffic along Highway 92, we drove up the coast toward Daly City and came back down 280. Along the way we stopped at a great little fish market right next to the fishing boats and picked up some sushi grade ahi. Tonight’s dinner will be sesame encrusted grilled tuna steak. I haven’t figured out how to incorporate the pumpkin into it yet…
