Miscellaneous: January 2007 Archives
No hiking for us this weekend. It was a weekend for (in no particular order) soccer, tea, cactus gardens, and rum cake. Dave and I drove down to LA with Jason where we met a group to go to the US Men's National Soccer Team game vs. Denmark. We won, 3-1, and although the performance was nothing spectacular it looked better than anything we did at the World Cup.
On Sunday we visited the Huntington Gardens for an English Tea Brunch followed by a meander through the Japanese and Cactus gardens. It was a lovely day, especially compared to the cold snap we've had in the Bay Area. After the long drive home (listening to the Patriots blow it), the weekend was topped off with some fantastic rum cake provided by Jason's grandparents. Even though we weren't off hiking, it certainly wasn't a bad way to spend a weekend!
With the holidays and my annual trip back to the midwest to visit the family, I've barely gotten out on a hike during the past month. On top of that, I'm working on a slight redesign of the site template so I haven't been motivated to post much until it is done. When I set this 'blog' up, the intention was to simply list trip reports and links to photo albums, and I never cared much for the css I used. I finally have gotten around to making it all pretty, and am almost ready to launch it. Hopefully with some new trip reports and hike photos at the same time.
In the meantime, enjoy "Christmas and a Michigan to Minnesota Road Trip with My Sister's Two Cats".
