The photo migration is taking longer than I thought - not because the process is that difficult, it is just that my connection from home has been more than flaky for the past month, severely limiting the speed I am able to transfer photos and work on the new software. We ended up bailing on Comcast a few weeks ago and right now we are trying out the free MetroFi network in Sunnyvale. It has some major disadvantages, but it's free, so for now it's acceptable while we try and figure out what our options are.
I have gotten our a few times and haven't posted the photos yet - we spent Maria's birthday weekend partying it up at Pt Reyes Sky Camp, and we also did some car camping and dayhiking up at Big Basin. This past weekend we did a nice dayhike from Montara State Beach up to the North Peak of Montara Mountain. It was a good hike - about 7.5 miles round trip from parking at sea level to the peak at ~1700 feet. Not a full day effort, but at least it got the heart pumping and the legs working a bit. My summer hiking schedule is getting filled up with some tough hiking, so I need to start getting in shape so I can tackle all those Sierra passes!
I bought a bright red Toyota Prius on Friday. For $2000 off MSRP and 0% financing, I got the one I wanted straight off the lot (and although it wasn't my first color choice, it is still pretty cool). I can even plug in my ipod.
I love my truck to pieces, but it is getting old and I'd rather spend the miles that it has left in it doing the things that it is best at - snow, desert driving, and trips where we need a lot of space. The Prius actually has a surprising amount of space in it - it could carry four (lightweight) backpackers and their packs, as long as high clearance isn't needed for trailhead access!
After a weekend of driving it has a grand total of 102 miles on the odometer. So far, it's all good. I like my new red toy!
