David looks for the trail
Much of it crosses granite slabs and is ducked - it is easy to lose the trail, but not too hard to get lost with a good map.

Pools along the Twin Lakes drainage
We were up here two years ago in October and things were much drier - the creeks were running at full strength this time, and cool inviting pools tempted us along the entire hot hike up to Twin Lakes

Theresa tries to not fall in on a dangerous creek crossing!
Actually, it wasn't too dangerous - it was just impossible to avoid getting wet! On the hike back the next day we found a spot downstram that allowed us to stay dry.

Seasonal Waterfall
As we approach the peninsula that separates the two Twin Lakes, we are treated to a stunning view of a fresh snowmelt waterfall dumping into the lake. Above the waterfall is Island Lake where we camped two years ago.

Upper Twin Lake
Upper Twin Lake, the waterfall, and the beginning of clouds. Thunderstorms were in the forecast so we were keeping a close eye on the sky.

Camp on the peninsula between the two Twin Lakes
Regulations said that camp was to be 200ft or further from water - I think we were the only people here who paid attention this regulation. :/

Cliffs and late season snow on the other side of the lake
We spent the afternoon lounging around on the lakeshore rocks like lizards. We even jumped in the water briefly - brrrr!!! (but refreshing!)

Marmot
I saw several marmots but only got a (bad) photo of this guy. He was fat and waddled as he ran away.

Dinner time
David eats dinner in the shade of his tarp. It was hot - in the 90s outside, and it was over 100 in my tent until the sun set enough to not shine on it.
